Global Profiling of Phosphorylation Reveals the Barley Roots Response to Phosphorus Starvation and Resupply

Phosphorus (P) deficiency is a major threat to the crop production, and for understanding response mechanism of plant roots, P stress may facilitate development crops with increased tolerance. Phosphorylation plays critical role in regulation proteins responses biotic abiotic stress; however, its functions starvation/resupply are largely unknown barley ( Hordeum vulgare ) growth. Here, we performed global review phosphorylation roots treated by starvation/resupply. We identified 7,710 sites on 3,373 proteins, which 76 types conserved motifs were extracted from 10,428 phosphorylated peptides. Most located nucleus (36%) chloroplast (32%). Compared control, 186 131 under starvation condition 156 111 resupply showed significant differences at 6 48 h, respectively. These mainly participated carbohydrate metabolism, phytohormones, signal transduction, cell wall stress, oxidases stress. Moreover, pathways ribosome, RNA binding, protein transport, metal binding significantly enriched starvation, only two ribosome greatly Pi according protein–protein interaction analysis. The results suggested that might play important roles metabolic processes deficiency/resupply. data not provide unique access reprogramming deficiency/resupply but also demonstrate close cooperation between these key functions.
